TYPES OF THERAPY:
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR therapy is a unique and evidence-based approach to trauma treatment that was developed by Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s. It has since gained recognition and acclaim for its effectiveness in helping individuals process and resolve traumatic experiences, phobias, and other distressing memories.
EMDR therapy uses bilateral stimulation, typically in the form of eye movements, to facilitate the reprocessing of traumatic memories, leading to reduced distress and improved emotional well-being. EMDR can be a powerful and transformative approach and can be delivered in person or online, providing you with flexible options.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT has a strong evidence base in the treatment of a range of anxiety issues, depression, trauma and eating disorders. It can provide you with a clearer understanding of how some of your issues might have developed and what might fuel them. You will have the opportunity to develop skills and strategies in the management of your specific difficulties.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is a modern form of therapy geared towards helping people to manage difficult life experiences whilst living in a more fulfilling and meaningful way. ACT acknowledges that life can be painful and provides an opportunity to develop various skills in response to this. We also aim to make behaviour change in line with what really matters to you.

Person-Centred Therapies
Person centred approaches place the individual at the heart of the work, with important emphasis on the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. These approaches tend to be less directive and provide an opportunity for the client to better understand, name and process their experiences. I will work with you in an empathic and genuine way in order to support your growth.

Play Therapy
Play therapy can provide your child with an opportunity to explore and process their issues in a safe way, through using a diverse range of toys, building equipment, drawing materials and sand, within the comfort of our clinic space. It can also be combined with approaches such as CBT in order to help with anxiety, mood issues and difficulties around grief for example.

Integrative Approaches
I will utilise a number of different therapy approaches in order to tailor treatment to your needs. In addition to the above models, I may also use and draw from TF-CBT, Schema Therapy, Behavioural Activation, Motivational Interviewing and Compassion Focused Therapy.
